Professional History
Business Operations
I bring over 20 years of business and operations support experience driving results for real estate, accounting, HR, and fintech user research teams. Defining experiences include:
- Operations Specialist for blockchain leader Ripple Labs
- Sold multifamily real estate
- Co-founder of a natural hair company
- Freelance administrative professional to small businesses and startups
All these experiences taught me how to listen for pain points to solve problems, work with others, and deliver results–all of which transfer well to a legislative environment. One of my proudest professional moments was being named my company’s Social Responsibility Ambassador.
Inspired by Reconstruction-era Black Americans
I run inspired by the mindset and resilience of my Reconstruction-era Republican ancestors and to deliver results that improve people’s lives–not climb the political ladder to higher office.
Their example demonstrated how any Black American can outsmart and outmaneuver any remaining relic of racism we face, today.
Black Americans residing in Wilmington, NC, during this era, are one of many blueprints we can follow. In an hostile and discriminatory environment, they outsmarted and outmaneuvered obvious racism and, often, thrived. And they fought back, against the racial disrespect, at the ballot box and by becoming skilled, professional, and economically self-sufficient.
For example, during this period, Black men proved productive business owners as well as dignified community and political leaders.
Voters must know that working-class Black and White Republicans joined forces with and a group of disenfranchised White farmers (who created their own party, called Fusion ) to win elections during this era.
These farmers, were the political independents of their day. Apparently, Democrats didn’t deliver on promises to them and they walked away and formed Fusion.
Black and White Republicans with the Fusion farmers then formed a coalition that won elections and defeated Democrats.
This coalition governed Wilmington together, peacefully—until racist Democrats terrorized them out of office in 1898.
I’m running to remind Black Americans of this historic collaboration between White and Black Americans, of all class, who discovered common interest and were incentivized to unify around those interests to defeat a common threat.
They, clearly, had no time to sweat the small stuff.
These Black Republicans didn’t require altruism or social affirmation from White farmers or their White Republican colleagues to unite.
They recognized a mutual threat to peace and commerce–hence their livelihood and took action.
It’s time to, unify, again, to save our country from radical socialists and Islamists who threaten our historic American values rooted in Christian faith, freedom, economic opportunity, safe communities, and family legacy.
Values that have been staples of Black American life before the cultural influences in the 1960s convinced us to abandon them.
Notice it only took one time for those White farmers to have their loyalty to the Democrat Party betrayed before they took action at the ballot box.
Black Americans should follow their example, today.
As your next NC House Representative, I will bring that same spirit of collaboration as I work with White Republicans to solve problems for District 18 where many Black Americans are struggling to live, above poverty level. A vote for me is a vote for political integrity, authenticity, safer streets, lower costs, and better schools.
