On, February 22, 2026, I attended the New Hanover County (NHC) NAACP annual Souls to the Polls primary event. While most of my conservative views do not align with the NAACP’s progressive agenda, I was encouraged by the NAACP Vice-Chair, Spero Pekatos,’s effort to, personally, invite me during primary electioneering. He stated they want to see more diversity of thought represented in the organization. So, I was delighted to accept in the spirit of Braver Angels–where I have been a speaker. I got to meet many progressive candidates while putting aside political differences to join them in encouraging NHC voters to get out and exercise their right to vote.
